Notification preferences

Notification preferences help us edit the notifications we can receive as well as our preferred contacts for receiving the notifications.

These preferences can be changed for the frequency we wish to be notified about a certain aspect of our Canvas account.

It is advised that you let Canvas know which notifications you wish to receive and which ones you don't.

Notification preference settings

These Preference settings can be changed by heading over to the Notifications link on your Account navigation.

You should first, however, remember to click on settings and edit/add the preferred notification contacts. These are the contacts through which the notifications from Canvas will be sent to you and can be a telephone contact, email address or a social media account.

To change the notification preferences for the contact methods added, locate the given notification and select from the four icons representing the notification preference.

To;

receive a notification right away, click the checkmark icon (A)
receive a daily notification, click on the clock icon (B)
receive a weekly notification, click on the calendar icon (C)
receive NO notification at all, click the remove icon (D)

You then Save these changes made and thus your notification preferences have been successfully set.

NOTE:

the notification preference settings only set YOUR notifications (notifications sent to you) and not the notifications sent to your students.
Notification settings apply to all of your courses; you cannot change settings for individual courses.
If you've set a notification preference for an email address that is outside VUB, you may see a privacy warning. You can close the warning by clicking the Ok button. Once the warning has been displayed, it will not display again.

Registered Services

This column of registered services lists the web services and social media platforms you have selected to receive notification through.

These registered services from your frequently used web services will be the methods by which your notifications can also be sent to you. If you have more than one service, be sure to edit the notification preferences for each of these services.

You can either add new web services or remove some existing services at Under registered services. The other unregistered services will be indicated on the other column called ´other services´ as shown in the image below. These are just a suggestion of the web services you may already be registered for.
